I have realized the next step in the web 2.0 evolution.
Someone will make an X11 server implemented in AJAX.
It's web 3.5 or your money back.
Fuck desktop-like applications in your browser. I'm talking real desktop applications in your browser.

i don't think this will be viable anytime soon. the network infrastructure isn't good enough (no quality of service guarantees) to support the kind of latency you'd need to have a decent experience operating a desktop app. hell, i can barely run emacs through the instructional servers over x11, and they're pretty much next door in terms of network topology.
