so hey i'm in chicago and it's pretty rad but it's cooold. Gina and i crashed the museum of the art institute of chicago this morning then got some bomb falafel in wicker park then wandered around town for a while and got some coffee to warm up cuz it wuz coold. Then we went to the market and back to the dorms for my first ever experience as the only heterosexual male at an art school dorm potluck party.

on the airplane i got started on my next CS project which has to be in python but I don't know python yet so I started trying to learn it. i was confused to find no mention of switch anywhere in pydoc and since I had no internet i had to write ugly if else if else chains for a little practice problem. now i've seen this and it's pretty rad i think (although leaves me feeling a bit dirty for some reason):

result = {
  'a': lambda x: x * 5,
  'b': lambda x: x + 7,
  'c': lambda x: x - 2
}[value](x)

Dude, that's gross. You don't need switch and you especially don't need that.

Yay! You're alive! And it sounds like you're having a great time. I'd be frozen. Yay!
