Yahoo Buying The Internet?

So yahoo has now bought del.ico.us, in addition to flickr, upcoming, and konfabulator. While google is trying to take over the internet by creating new software, yahoo are buying all the web-software people are already using (along with their users, this is important). This Will Be Interesting.
(yahoo must be offering everything they can think of for 37signals by now, and what about six apart, or last.fm to replace the dying [and non-mac-compatible] Y! Music -- last.fm is what used to be audioscrobbler for those that have heard of it)

google v. yahoo

I alternate between which I think is an aswesomer company, yahoo or google. For the most part google is ahead, although every time yahoo buys something new that I like they momentarily vault into the lead.

The reason that I think of google as so much better is because they do such a better job of branding their stuff. Whenever I'm using flickr, I'm not really thinking of it as a yahoo product. That is the downside of buying up existing products, I guess, as opposed to building your own, a la google.
